Also, do you consider yourself conservative or liberal (or something else)?

I'm wondering if the people who consider themselves conservative or liberal are mostly that way for economic or social issues.

I'm concerned mainly about the shrinking Middle Class, the enlargement of the Lower Class, the depression of real wages versus inflation for huge sectors of the work force. I'm worried that the poor are without health care. I'm worried that the education gap between rich and poor is growing wider by the year.

Overall I'm a left-moderate, though when it comes to Civil Liberties and the so called "culture wars" I'm very Liberal.

I am conservative, both politically and socially. I consider myself intelligent and rational and, above all, realistic. Mostly, though I hold a few gritty notions that most people would find offensive, I suppose. Certainly, most liberals, I am a sensible person.
The number one concern in my mind is the issue of security for the country and its holdings and people both here and abroad. It isn't a matter of 'what we did to deserve it, and how can we make it right,' it's a matter of national survival.
You can paint any picture you like, but it won't change the basic fact that terrorists don't need rational reasons for their acts, and don't play by the rules we all love to talk about admiring. Their goal is to wreak the maximum amount of disorder and fear through the minimum amount of expenditure. You can't get away from that reality, and no amount of pacifism on your side is going to change anything but the amount of trouble it is for them to pursue their dirty little agenda. Nor is any amount of denial going to stop them, so we'd better do something besides just argue the point, because for sure, they are.
A parallel, if you will. You can pretend it isn't happening, but if a tornado is bearing down on your house, you'd better have taken the appropriate steps by the time it hits. Same goes for terrorists.

The environment. I think the global warming issue is going to take center stage soon whether we're ready or not, and the other major concerns I have--current foreign policy, Iraq/Afghanistan/Palestine/Israel, US human rights/civil rights issues--will fade by comparison. It really worries me that our country's leaders aren't taking it seriously.

I'm a liberal on some issues, a moderate on others, a conservative on others.

I think conservative handling of the economy in regard to tax cuts and supply-side economics is correct. I hate their corrupt business practices both at home and abroad.

I think a lot of public assistance programs need to be redesigned to prevent abuse, but don't favor widespread cuts in budget for them.

Maybe you can tell me what label I should wear, I'm not entirely sure myself!

The number one thing that I'm concerned about is our current President and how he's ruining our image in the world. I consider myself a "moderate Democrat" and I am that way for both economic and social issues.

The number one issue that concerns me is that people on both sides of the fence only talk about money.

The liberals' answer to everything is to throw money at the problem. They want us out of Iraq and they think if they pay reparations to Iraq, we will be home free.

The conservatives' (neocons) answer is also about money, i.e.: not spending on social welfare.

We are presently engaged in a war with people who could care less about money. They have religiously fanatical ideals, and they will kill and die for those beliefs.

America used to be like that. The vast majority of Americans still believe like that about the things that matter to them, but in politics, it is all about money.

One issue, Health Care. Health care cost has gone up 87% since 2000 according to a report I saw. It is ridiculous when the average American has to decide how many members will be insured because it'll cost too much to insure all of them. It is sad when many are above the line to receive Medicaid and connot pay for it. It is criminal to have so many Americans without Health care while those who make our laws get all the Care in the world.

Liberal American

Taxes being raised on the working people by the liberals.
Terrorism.
(And I'm not afraid of terrorists. But I don't think Democrats should worry so much about being nice to them.)
