postage goes by weight not distance. If it's just a standard envelope one stamp will be enough if it is bigger or heavy you'll probably need to go to the post office to have it weighed♥

It depends on the weight of the letter. If it is only a couple sheets of paper, one 39 cent first class stamp should do it.

Anything under 1 ounce will go with a 39 cent stamp. You will need to add a 24 cent stamp for EACH ounce over that first ounce.

If it's a standard No. 10 envelope with only a few sheets of paper, only one 39 cent stamp will do.

If it's an odd-sized or over-sized envelope, you'll need more. The PO site has more info.

One 39 cent stamp will send a one ounce first class mail letter from anywhere to anywhere within the USA...

unless the letter is really thick (more than 4-5 pages) you should be fine with a 39 cent stamp.
