Make sure you get at the blood spot right away, if you can. That will give you a higher chance of removing it from the clothing. Water + Soap and keep scrubbing. The soap actually doesn't have to be detergent. I've used white soap. Just kind of keep scrubbing at it, then rinsing, then scrubbing again. After that, let it soak. I don't know if it'll completely get it out of white pants, but I've used it on cotton shirts, and I haven't had too much trouble.

Rule number one: don't put it in the dryer or iron it before the stain is completely out.

First thing I do is wet it with cool/cold water. Rinse as much as you can, rub with your finger. If you have to leave it, leave it wet.

My trusted treatment for bad stains is Zout, which I get at the supermarket. Another one that works is Gonzo, but it's not as easy to find. Shout is a good product, but not as good as these two. Apply the Zout, rub it in, wait a while, and then either wash the pants or rinse that area to see how it's doing. Apply again if you don't see the results you want. Zout is effective while it's wet. It has worked for me every time on blood stains, except for one that I left a week before treating it. It also takes out grease and red wine.

There is something else that's effective on blood stains: an enzyme cleaner, which you can buy at a pet-products store. It will remove any "biological" stains, not just pet accidents. You need to follow the instructions, using quite a lot of water with the cleaning liquid, and a lot of time, like overnight.

I really suck at shaving and often hick myself, needless to say I often get blood on my business shirts. I have tried heaps of products but have found only one that does not require heaps of elbow grease followed by days of soaking or multiple trips through a washing machine. The product I was now is called EXIT soap and it is nothing short of amazing. It does not matter if the stains are new or old or what colour or type of fabric the stain is on. As it is made from natural base it very safe and amazingly effective. It is an Aussie legend!

if you haven't already washed it or put any other type of cleaner, try soaking the area by spraying any brand of hairspray on it. Let the hairspray dry, then toss it in the washer, using the cold water setting only.
