I'm a baby boomer. My life has been really rough, straight. Can't imagine if I were not. The question is, since I'm lucky in that I don't have to deal with the hiding or the bashers, aren't there others who can lend some emphathy for the people who are the victims of ignorance? I've met some gay people, and they are people, like me. They have feelings. There is one thing different. There is so much more in common. "He who is without sin, can cast the first stone" ok?

Same background, totally agree with you. I answer questions on here often to gay bashers and holier-than-thou fanatical Xtians. They get on my last nerve. I am in total support of same-sex marriage and civil rights equality. Sometimes the ignorance out there is frightening to me.

I haven't done anything remotely notable for the world, but I did raise my two sons so they understood they are not special and should not be privileged because they are white, or straight, or Christians. They are special because of the people they have become - loving, understanding and tolerant/appreciative of those different from themselves. Now that they are grown I am proud of the men they are becoming and I am proud of the diversity found in their friendships with people.

I'm not a gay basher and i've had several gay friends over the course of my life but but I also don't like when people ASSUME that gay people are all lovey dovey, happy go lucky, loves everyone, hates no one, blah blah. That's a serious overgeneralization. I've been to several predominantly gay establishments and there have been a few instances where, the men in particular, were very rude, arrogant and clique-ish and made me feel as if I wasn't welcomed because I wasn't a gay man. And it seems as if some gay women don't know how to have a conversation with another women who isn't interested in them sexually. So, what do you have to say about that?

And gays aren't the only ones who get bad raps. Blacks, Muslims, Fat people, etc.

Oh, Sweetness, I wish. That would be such a kind world if people just agreed to disagree. "He who is without sin cast the first stone" could also be followed by "before trying to take the speck out of your neighbor's eye, first take the plank out of your own". Blessings.

You know they really just don't bother me. If they don't like me without meeting me their opinion really means nothing to me. I feel sorry for them and the people in their families though.
