I know a lot of people get married to help someone get their green card and I know someone who needs to have this happen. This is not a joke, he really needs to get married soon, people have shown interest, but he has no idea how much he should pay someone, I've heard anywhere from $5,000.00 to $25,000.00? Has anyone done this or no someone who has?

I know it isn't the right way, I'm not saying I support it. It's going to happen wether I help or not.

The immigration system is SO messed up here. I have a friend who has been in the country for 15 years legally, but can not get a green card to work. He has been married for 3 years, but they recently told him that he still has a 4 year wait. I don't know that this is the best route for your friend. I would tell him his money is better spent on an immigration lawyer.

this is an appalling question yet equally appalling is that i have an answer. i havent done it myself and dont plan to be in one but to answer your question, everytime i hear this, the numbers $10k - $20K pops up and gets thrown around. I dont know anyone who has paid first hand, more like word of mouth.

i would like to remind your friend though that the USCIS has gotten more strict about this issue and is more vigilant. it is not a get and married and quickly divorce kinda deal, they will now have to prove and possibly be investigated to be living in the same roof., have the same bank account, and all the other things that make a married couple, well, a married couple. Failure to prove this to the INS will result in the possible deportation of the petitioned person (the one who paid) and jail time as well as possible revocation of someone's legal residency or citizenship and forever being banned from the US to both parties.

is it worth it? definitely not.

Listen, before doing something that is not so smart find out the facts first.

1. you have to be married for at least one year before you could actually petition for your spouse.

2. prove that you been living together all that time.

3. pass and interview where they are going to ask you from what kind of toot paste he uses to what kind of sex does he likes and how often do you do it.

4. you have to become morally and financially responsible for whatever it is that he does, which means that whatever he does or doesn't do, you are responsible for.

JUST THINK if all of this is worth it.

That whole thought process is what's wrong with this country. Why don't you take the LEGAL route? I hope he gets tracked down and deported.
