When I put something in the search bar of Limewire and go on search, this message comes up:
"Limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results untill you are fully connected to the network."

I click on file where it says connect and disconnect, but I can only click on disconnect, which means I must be connected. I can use the internet OK, so what could be wrong with it?

It takes a few seconds for limewire to fully connect. There are 5 "strength" bars in the lower left hand corner of the limewire browser that look like cell phone signal bars. They are burgundy when you first connect and green once fully connected.

your limewire is trying to tell you that it is not FULLY connected to the peer network, in another words, very little part of the limewire network knows that you are connected to the network. Do not hurry just wait for some time. On the bottom-left corner of limewire window there is a bar that shows your connection strenght, when it says 'Turbo Charged' then you are fully connected to the network.

Or

You might have some problems with your firewall settings, free the limewire connection ports.

Or

Probably you are using a Demo version of limewire, which is limited. Try to find limewire Pro.

ALL of the answers by the others are good suggestions. However, if NONE of those work, uninstall your current version and download the latest version, which I believe is 4.12.6.

Good Luck!
