We gave her a treatment for fleas last weekend. For a day or so, this seemed to help. Now she's itching & scrathing again. She has allergies including dust mites which we think now is the cause of her problem. We will be taking her to the vetenarian probably in a few days...when we get the time to. Meanwhile...does anybody out there now how to treat dust mites on dogs. I hate to see her suffer. Suggestions much appreciated!!

We take both of our goldens to the vet regularly and both DO have allergies that include dust mites, mold. Like one of the people that responded suggested that she has seasonal allergies. We have given her Claritan (an antihistamine which we are out of now and are going to get), and this does help both of the dogs. We do consider ourselves responsible and good "parents" to our dogs. Thanks for all your suggestions and helpful answers!!

Dogs can have allergies too. Humans react by sneezing and running nose type symptoms, but a dogs histamine receptors are in their skin. Consider every scratch of an allergy itch a sneeze and you can guess how miserable they feel.

You might need to get your dog on some prednisone type antihistamine from your vet. Left un checked, your dog will scratch until it's hair is gone and his skin is raw. Deal with it now. It's fall and if you live in a climate where leaves are changing, then your air is filled with spores and mites, and dust and mold and moisture. Their warm skin is like a giant petri dish for allergy causing targets.

Are you sure it's dust mites? My dogs get to itching and digging so bad in Aug, Sept, Oct. The vet says they are seasonal allergies...same time I get my hay fever. Once you get her to the vet, I'm sure she'll feel better. Mine always do. I feel better, too...until I have to pay the vet bill! lol (aren't goldens great???) Good luck and I hope your dog gets to feeling better soon!

Maybe the treatment for fleas is to harsh for her skin. You could try to shampoo her with some dog shampoo with oatmeal as a main ingredient. Good luck.

Gee, how lucky she is to have you for a owner. What I want to know is why you haven't taken her to the vet before it got to this point? If you don't have the time to care for your pet, then find her a better home. Do you even realize how much she is probably suffering?

I truly have A Lahsa Apso, Igor, and he's fantastically lively for his breed. He develop into staying homestead on my own for 6-8 hrs an afternoon through himself and it did not look to electrify him. I enable him run in the backyard and performed with him each and every morning and for hours well-known when I were given homestead, so he did not bypass over the interest. I did finally get yet another canines because I felt undesirable for him, even with the indisputable fact that it would not look to electrify him a lot both way. That being suggested, I were given him even as he develop into 9 weeks and he develop into an in elementary words canines for 3 months, so he develop into used to being through himself with a bunch of toys to maintain him occupied. If Brooklyn develop into in a multi animal homestead, she might want to react otherwise. i'd recommend various toys (mine truly loves the busy bone, takes them forever to get through it, and it would not stain fabrics), and if accessible, yet another mature older canines. My restore develop into to bypass homestead for lunch, as I lived in elementary words 5 min away. yet each and every canines is diverse, so that you'll be able to ought to attempt her out and see what works for her! good luck!
