My friend has a 2001 honda civic manual trans. She damaged her right arm permantly and want to know if her car can be changed to an automatic, if so... any ideas on cost? I thank you and she thanks you.

it would be cheaper to get a new car. You'd have to buy the transmission, linkage, shifter, computer etc. At least 3,000 to 4,000 dollars.

Yes with basic modifications. Around Illinois cost would be around 850-1200 depending on the cost of transmission, around $350 R&R, transmission $400 plus labor to fix the area where the stick was removed and replace with a automatic shifter.

You should be able to change out the transmission and clutch assembly.
