Make sure the power is on at the main switch and the progarmmer is in an on position (lights should be lite on the hot water and or central heating).

check to see if the pilot light is alight through the site glass at the front of the boiler. It it is not alight pull the bottom door down or the tray towards you cannot remember which it is. Turn thermostat knob to off or zero. turn the knob on the gas valve to ignition and depress while pushing the white or red button in or down repetedly until the pilot light is alight. keep holding the knob on the gas valve down for approximately thirty seconds and the pilot light should stay lite.

If the pilot light goes out repeat the procedure, if it keeps going out you need to call a heating engineer.

Once the pilot light has lite turn the knob on the gas valve to on, turn the boier thermostat back to is original position and the main burner should light. put back the casing and turn up any room thermostats if you have them and require central heating.

I hope I have the right boiler it has been a while since I last saw one. Wall mounted with a balance flue ?

The data badge on the Flamingo is on the bottom of the brown lower case, 1 screw and it pulls out. I think the 50 had an input of about 15 kw and as a general rule you downrate for new boilers because of their efficiency so a 12kw boiler should do but you need to know the old system was properly sized in the first place.
