Depends on what your definition of "is", is. IMHO, most lawyers are following the conduct expected from their individual state bar associations. The high-powered partnerships have personnel adept at dual-billing, i.e. they can claim research for two clients is being accomplished in the same job-task. The rich lawyers make their money off clients, not cheating. In the courtroom, the baliff doesn't ask the lawyer if he's going to be telling "the whole truth and nothing but the truth."

Lawyers cheat and lie...it is what they do. While the courts are supposed to be one of the only places where truth and honesty are upheld, that does not happen to be the case. As a lawyer, it is very hard for them to be virtuous. My suggestion is to find a Christian lawyer, if you need one. At least you know that they will not lie (well, at least not as much.)

Many who are extremely wealthy do. However, not all do and contrary to common belief not all are wealthy. My very best friend in the whole world is an attorney. He is a christian and ex-marine who practices in a small town. He barely makes enough to make ends meet but wouldn't do anything else because he loves it and feels he is really in postion where he can see the results of helping people.

this is very true because sometimes the lawyer doesn't want his/her client to get into any more trouble than he/she is already in. they do this so that they can make money. this isn't fair to the other people person because they are not telling the truth.

The ones who make the most money, in the long term, are those who are known for their honesty. As a result of their reputation for character, the judges and other attorneys will ultimately make their practice easier by taking them at their word.

They don't "lie" they just make sure that every defendant is afforded his constitutional right to a fair trial. Prosecuters do the same thing, they make sure the people get the best chance of getting a scum bag off the streets.

Yes it it true, but don't forget about the politicians and the used car salesmen. You might also want to throw in stockbrokers and CEO's, like Dick Cheney. Oh, he fits both categories. I forgot he was the Vice President now.

How old are you? Is this is a trick question? While there are disreputable people in every profession, I think the opportunity for unethical behavior is just more prevalent in the practice of law.
