What is the penalty if any for a Police Officer lying under oath to prove a point and a Judge who had his mind made up before he entered the court room to who was guilty or innocent? Would not let the defendant present documents in court pertaining to the case.. Alleged Minor Seat Belt offence...and who can one turn to for help

I knew the minute the Judge smiled at the officers I was going to loose the case..I paid the fine but the fact that the RCMP lied under oath , did a drivers abstract on me, put my name on the air waves, and I was NOT driving......Irks the heck out of me......I would like to find someone to help me... First time ever in court in 62 yrs...GRrrr

in answer to Steve..I was my own defence telling the truth assumed I would be ok.. I had a chance to ask the Officers questions which I did..they didnt give straight answers but again....judge believed them.

Did ask the officer questions..he lied. neither of their stories were the same..they were in the same car..same time

You cant, the way things are done in this country now, They can even deny your right to council, and right to trial by jury

I would ask for an appeal. Many local courts use the fines from the seat belts and other minor infractions to pay for court administration. So they will find whatever loop hole they can to keep your money. Usually in cases like this, you go in front of a magistrate or a low level judge (depending on the state) who are appointed by the judges. I would appeal it and go in front of a real judge who has been elected. Those judges are a little more fair because they have be held accountable to the public. It will be an actual hearing and you'll be able to call witnesses and ask the cop questions under oath.

Over a seal belt violation? Get a lawyer and appeal the decision, which will take a bunch of $$$. Other than that sounds like you just have to live with it.
