I would hope that the nude paintings of the 1500's are not considered porn now.
Pornography is quite different from tasteful art and even nude photography. It's a fine line that's crossed a lot, but most of us can see beauty in nudity (especially a female body) if it's done tastefully, right?
I guess tastefulness is debatable too, so you can't win....

Well, there was no photography in the 1500s. It wasn't invented until the 1800s. However, it was also viewed as porn then, not art. We just think it's art today because they were much less graphic in their poses.
By the 1880s, some prostitutes used to make what was the equivalent of a trading card with them in nude poses to give or sell to regular customers and as advertisements. The 1800s were a much different place than today.

It was tastefully done and painted...the skanky mags of today are not art. Take a look at work of William Bougereau, he did many nudes, but all very tasteful!

there are plenty of "nudes" done in the 20th century that arent considered porn by any standards..
pornography is different than art, but the line has been blurred throughout time, as to what is porn and what is art..

The naked body was considered a thing of beauty then. Now, it is considered a thing to get you off. Don't get me wrong, there is nude art even now, but it is a very rare thing.

It depends on the work and who you ask. I'm sure those who think today's nude art is porno think that 1500's nude is porno, too.

I THINK THAT IN IT'S TIME PAINTINGS THAT WERE NUDE WERE CONSIDERED INAPPROPRIATE, HOWEVER AS THE PIECE AGES THAT IS WHEN IT IS APPRECIATED AS ART. A LOT OF THE STUFF WE ARE SEEING MADE TODAY IS SIMPLY PORN AND TRASHY MAYBE 600 YEARS DOWN THE LINE IT WILL ALSO BE ACCLAIMED AS ART?????
