I was on the patch about two years ago and I was only on it for about a year. I didn't have a period for 6 months after that. But when I did it has been pretty normal, shorter then what they use to be but they come every 27-28 days. But the problem is that I went on it after I had gotten preg and had an abortion (and please no rude comments about my choice to have an abortion, you don't know the circumstances so don't judge me for it). But now me and my husband have been actively trying for 11 months to conceive and no luck. We also had been having unprotected sex prior to the year of trying and I never got pregnant then either. I had no complications with the abortion, no infections or anything that would have caused a problem. I'm wondering if the patch has something to do with it. Research shows that abortions are pretty safe. I have a 6 year old son but I just haven't gotten pregnant since I went on the patch, only got pregnant before ever using it. Anyone had this problem?

See your Dr. There are so many reasons for not getting pregnant. The patch is probably not the culprit as it usually only takes 3-6 months for your body to flush out the hormones, etc. You should have an ultrasound done to check for ovarian cysts, possible scar tissue from the abortion in the uterus, or endometriosis (when the lining of the uterus grows irregularly). Also, have you ensured that you are actually ovulating every month? There are over the counter ovulation kits that you can get for $7-$15 that work very well. Make sure you are ovulating and are having intercourse around all of those days (the day prior to ovulating, the day of, and the day after). The ovulation kit can also help by letting you know if you are ovulating the same time every month. Good luck!

Go to an OBGYN. It might not be anything to do with the patch or the abortion. It might be something natural, it might be nothing at all. May be the reason you are having trouble getting pregnant now is because you really want to. Go to a doc to find out what's going on.
