They gave me the equation:f=9/5c+32
so then they told me to find the degrees celsuis and I did this:9divided by 5 =1.8+23 which was the temp. in fahrenheit,but now they want me to use the same equation to find the celsuis and I don't know who to do it,can someone help me please...

Converting Fahrenheit to Celsius

The Fahrenheit Formula

F = 9/5C + 32

5/9 F = 5/9(9/5)C + 32

multiplying both sides of the equation 9/5 by its reciprocal 5/9

5/9F = C + 32

5/9F - 32 = C + 32 - 32

Subtracting - 32 from both sides of the equation

5/9F - 32 = C This is the Celsius Formula

Converting Celsius to Fahrenheit

The Celsius Formula

5/9F - 32 = C

9/5(5/9)F - 32 = 9/5C

Multiplying both sides of the equation 5/9 by its reciprocal 9/5

F - 32 = 9/5C

F - 32 + 32 = 9/5C + 32

Adding + 32 to both sides of the equation

F = 9/5C + 32 This is the Fahrenheit Formula

Finding Fahrenheit Degrees

Example

Celsius equals 30°

Insert 30° into the formula

F = 9/5C + 32

F = 9/5(30) + 32

F = 9 x 30 = 270

F = 270/5 = 54 + 32

F =54 + 32

F = 86°

Finding Celsius Degrees

Example

Fahrenheit equals 86°

C = 5/9F - 32

C = 5/9(86 - 32)

C = 5/9( 54)

C = 5 x 54 = 270

C = 270/ 9

C = 30°

Do you mean that the first time they wanted you to find the temperature in Fahrenheit, given a temperature in Celcius? The equation, as you wrote, is F = 1.8C + 32. You just need to use simple algebra to get a function for C in terms of F instead of F in terms of C. F = (9/5)C + 32, so C = (5/9)(F - 32).

Convert.

C=(F-32)*(5/9)

Subtract 32 degrees from the Fahrenheit temperature. This tells you the number of Fahrenheit degrees above freezing you have.

Each Fahrenheit degree is 9/5 larger so you must multiple the number you get above by 5/9 to get the degrees Celcius.

You could either use the formula C = (F-32) *5/9 or add http://www.onlineconversion.com/temperature.htm to your favorites and make your life easier ;)

you need the formula to transpose f=9/5c+32 to C=. It's easy.

f-32=9/5C

9/5C=F-32 .....

You do the rest.

(f-32)*5/9=C
C(9/5)+32=F
just substitutte what is given and find the unknown
you can use either equation
