I have been cutting back on caffeine for the past two weeks. I drink about 1-2 times a week instead of every day, multiple times a day like I used to. This includes soda and coffee. I know that I get caffeine withdrawal headaches, but now I've been getting them every day, for the past two weeks on the days that I don't have any caffeine. What can I do??

WARNING, do not focus only on caffeine withdrawal. A chronic headache might be caused by something really serious. It is possible that it was a coincidence that you are having headaches when you just gave up caffeine. It might be caused by a vein-bulb in your brain (which is really serious, might cause brain-bleeding). Or you have a sleeping-apnea, which you cannot know without someone else telling you about your apnea.Or maybe you have high blood pressure. Or you might have an eye-tension-disorder.
As a summary, a chronic headache is a pure enough reason to see a doctor.

Just see a doctor, do not ignore.

Take some Tylenol or Advil when you get the headaches. You may be one of those people who have to completely stop drinking caffeinate beverages or have one everyday at the same time. You're probably getting the headaches 18-24 hours after you had your last "dose" of caffeine....your body is just telling you that it's time for another one!!

If you were drinking "sugared" beverages you are likely having a sugar withdrawal as well. I would suggest you either switch to a caffeine free soda or a diet soda for a period of time so you can get off one dependency at the time.

It's always difficult to stop drinking soft drinks and coffee...they are almost a comfort food. You might stay with drinking only one a day for a couple of weeks then tamper off with the caffeine free or sugar free drink for a while before you cut them out all together (if that's what you really want to do).

Nothing it will go away in time it's a withdraw symptom. Try cutting back differently start by drinking coffee and soda every other day then every third day then every 4 day and so on a week at a time. Also drink a lot of water and exercise help but you'll still have a headache to some point for about a month.

Hi friend.. U didn't mentioned why U started cutting back caffiene. There should be many qstns asked inorder to understand UR exact problem. Wat type of Head ache you are Having? Is it generelised? or on a specific area- like one half of the head, front of head, back side, pain on eyes etc.. How long it persists? Is this pain having a rhythm? does it follow a time cycle? Do any one of UR family have a Migrane History? Do U have any kind of Depression syndrom? It may depend on UR Job, eye sight, etc.. Generally Females have reported more cases of Headaches than males. U should inspect more things like- Is this Headache associated with cold/sneezing etc, Is it having any relation with climate etc. Is headache having any direct relationship with oiling n washing hair? Can U able 2 avoid this Headache if U take a cup of coffee? U find out your problem by experimentation. Then only U consult a Doctor. Because Doc may not get enof time 2 ask all these stuffs. He may prescribe some Tabs 4 Headache. that wont cure. So U need a self assessment & experimentation, then tell the Doc whole story. He may help U. You can ask me any assistance if U need. just mail 2
May God Bless U get well fast..

There could be other reasons for your headaches. A very commmon one is a changed eyesight. Have your eyes been tested lately? Give that a try.

And then there can be hormonal reasons or reasons which relate to a medication you take. It can even be that you spend too much time staring into a monitor or onto a TV screen. Then it helps if you regularly look out of a window or take a break form those devices.

You need to cut out caffine all together temporarily to see if that's the problem. If after a few weeks of no caffeine (coke, coffee, chocolate, tea) you are still having these headaches, you should probably have a CT scan.

Drink a ton of water! Dehydration can give you horrible headaches. Don't wait until you get thirsty to drink water, by that time your already dehydrated.
