More specifically- why don't Christians want to go?

church isn't what it used to be. People used to go for a spirit of camaraderie, friends that would last a lifetime. Churches would help out people in times of need, regardless of who the person in need was. If your car broke down in a strange town far from home qand you didn't have the money to fix it, you went to a church--often taken to the pastor by one of his parishoners who was just passing by. They used to help the homeless, try to provide activities for kids through youth groups, do their part trying to bring their community together--AND THAT'S THE IMAGE WE STILL SEE OF THEM!! thats what we see on 7th Heaven and sister act, and every time the church is shown on tv or in a movie--How can existing x-ians not be disappointed with what they have instead? Churches used to do important things and thus the parishoners felt important and that it was important to go. Now none of it is important anymore--Good luck with that! >=)

It is boring, the same old dogma is covered over and over again. It is based upon an outdated and outmoded book, which preaches death and destruction and covers it with peace on earth good will towards man.
99 percent of the peope who pray, do it silently which is absolutely useless anyway and they have not the slightest idea of what Heaven is really all about. In the words of Peter Potter. Is it a hit or a Myth.
It is a Myth that promotes crime and violence, by insisting that all you have to do is accept Jesus and every evil thing you ever did will be forgiven.

That is what is wrong with Church. It needs to be modernized to include all life since the beginning of time. Cut the hocus pocus and get down to reality.
We are composed of Energy: Energy cannot be created nor destroyed. Ergo We were here in the beginning in one form or another and we will continue to be.
There has not been any new life on earth since the beginning. The life that existed millions of years ago, has been passed on from generation to generation all through the process of Evolutionary expansion.

More and more the church is being attacked also the doctrine people are in search of the true doctrin and they are much like a pilgrim If the Holy Spirit is not present within the congregation than where is He?If the Spirit in the church is more like the flesh meeting the needs of the few, than why do we remain . The church is transforming into a true church where the Holy Spirit is welcomed to meet the needs of all.

Because Christianity isn't about religion its about relationships and Christians have destroyed everything Christ stood for by putting up a building where the instant you walk in you feel condemned by all the rules and regulations. Christians are supposed to be radically different but we're not we're just regular people with pretty church clothes on.

A lot of people think church is where only " good " people go, but that is not the case. It is where anyone can go to learn how to be a better person.. Some people think they reach a point where they don't need to go all the time. Why give so little back to He who have so much to you?

I think...many people have become "too smart" for church...They no longer can distinguish the difference between "faith"...and what is logic...
For example, I'm Christian, but I also consider me somewhat Jewish...because if I am Christian--whether Catholic or Protestant-- I am a "follower" of Christ...Christ is God, and I idolize him...therefore, I should want to be more "Christ-like"...and Jesus...was Jewish.

And...I'll be the first to admit, that I probably won't think like this a few years from now...Some people become "too smart"...for "religion"...and instead turn to a more...spiritual form of faith.

For me, personally I have a hard time going since we moved because the Independant Baptist Churches here are more liberal and I am not use to hearing Contempary music played during worship time, or ladies waering jeans and pants to church. Also I am not use to hearing the pastor say he is friends with people who do not share in his beliefs and lets paople who are not saved preach. I have huge issues with the 5000 Bible out there. WHo has the right translation...NO one knows who is the right religion. I have core beliefs but I have a hard time conforming to some of the others

Likely they go away from church disappointed, because they didn't get what their soul was hungry for. For that reason they don't return. Some people visit different groups if they are serious about bread for the soul. If you eat a good satisfying meal you'll always come back

That's a great question. I consider myself a very devout Christian and it's gotten to where I don't even want to go anymore. It's gotten to be so much of a social club by those who think themselves to be elite that there is very little real worship involved. I want to do what Jesus wants me to do and that is to go and tell the gospel. So many churches now like to pat themselves on the back for going on mission trips to places like Mexico and Brazil and that's great but the real mission field is in our own communities. You don't have to go very far to find someone who is lost. But, if you have your blinders on you will never see them.

Because you don't have to go!! As long as you love jesus then you're guaranteed a ticket into heaven so why waste time going to church? Man I love how Christianity is so full of holes and contradictions.
