Generally people are good and follow the "rules". But why are you that way? What is the "main" reason that you don't steal, and murder?

Is it the fear of jail time?
Is it the fear of God and the afterlife?
Is it the fear of losing what you have (family/friends/the good life)?
Is it a "do unto others" approach?
Is it just that you've been taught not too?

I definately do not want to go to jail but i dont fear it because i know i wont be doing those things. Its not a fear of God, its the faith in God that you have that keeps you from being that way. A good life is what you have because you choose to be a good person. I firmlly believe that what comes around, goes around so i wouldnt that stuff to come back and get me. And yes, my folks would have rung our necks if we even thought like that. But i actually believe its what's in your heart and soul that keeps us from doing bad things. And of course, there is the right and wrong about it... Its just plain wrong. We need to spend more time teaching our children about respecting others and quit being selfish. We need to take the word "I" out of the vocabulary and see how many people can even complete a whole sentence. Have a great day!

The consequences, no matter what they are or could be, hold me back from doing what is wrong and even sometimes right. Life isn't so bad when you do what is right. You know how bad it could be if you lied because the lies spin into a web of deceit. Usually bad things turn worse, which makes me think of karma, it's better to be who you are doing what is right. If you steal something from a store it could turn into someone getting fired or the store becoming bankrupt, you never know. Why make the world a worse place when you can make it better? I say good day.

He has changed me. Jesus has changed my heart. He has written His word on the tablets of my heart so that I do not sin against Him. I love Him, I desire to do as He asks.

Does this mean I always do the right thing? No. As Paul so eloquently put it: "the good I would do, I do not, the evil I would not do, I do". I am a sinner saved by grace. But I would act on evil impulses and thoughts a lot more if I didn't want to follow the one I love more than anything: Jesus Christ.

This is the second level of trust - Understanding the consequences. Most people don't. You can look at different writings and professional publishings on this, and there are about 6 levels above this...but what come next is agreeing to participate in society.

Fear of displeasing god, but not fear of the afterlife. It is just oblivion.

The love of/for God in my heart.

God's Gospel:

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10
