Decent pay for what? The concept of a 'decent' salary depends mainly on the work one is doing and the going rate for it.
If you are speaking of a 'living wage', then that depends a great deal on where you are living and what your standards are (and what family you have to support).
It really is a very difficult question to answer!
Here, in a quite expensive city in the UK, with two people in an owned house (no mortgage), we find that £20,000 is just about tenable. (If you want to convert that to $$, then you can almost double it). BUT food costs rather less in the States and petrol/gas costs a LOT less. Housing is generally a lot more expensive here, though (our 3-bed end of terrace is worth around £200,000 - I think a comparable house in, say, Sacramento would be a little more than half that). I believe I would feel comfortable (now) on a household income of £30,000 (before tax), but I think we have only ever barely scraped that (allowing for inflation) in 37 years of marriage and both working.
And ... yeah, money isn't everything. Life depends to a large extent on what you make of it and what your expectations are. I don't think I have ever in my life spent more than 1/20th of my income a year on vacations! That is quite a ridiculously small amount by a lot of people's standards, yet I see no reason to spend more than that!

$50,000 a year is a decent salary. Although the word "decent" is a relative word and has many meanings.

Depends on where you live I would say. I'm in Houston, here I would say an decent salary (as in where one can support themselves comfortably) would be $35-45K range.
Hope that helps!

A good rule of thumb is this: If you make your rent in one week's pay, leaving 3 more weeks to pay all your other bills. That's what I'd like.

I bring in 350K, and it is NOT enough, bet on that. I dont' think a part time job at Home Depot will help, if that is what you are going to suggest. Good luck

This all depends on what your skills are. I mean a garbage man can't be expected to make as much as a chemical engineer.

That depends if you have a family or you are single. I think 50,000 is a good place to start

If I were single in America, I'd look for $50K minimum, per year.
