Do you mean a persuasive speech?

Yes, I think it is just fine. I mean usually prayer is a silent, meditative time between you and God ... and how is someone going to ban your right to your thoughts and your moments of silence?

I do not think that it should be mandated ... b/c there are so many people of varying beliefs and backgrounds.

Prayer is personal ... it need not be mandated or banned.

Praying, what type of praying. Diff religions have diff praying methods. Maybe for ur speech class u can take ard 2-3 major religions and the method how they usually pray. Then from there u can elaborate more like can they pray in group, what time they usual pray and how many times a day is compulsory to pray. Then from there u can make a conclusion.

Personally i think praying should be allowed in school as long it doesnt interupt with the schools' schedule and the students' schedule.

Absolutely yes it should. The USA was founded on religious freedoms. Our forefathers and the men and women before them who came over on the Mayflower founded the USA just for that cause. The King of England said my way or the highway when it came to religion and how you could or could not worship or pray to God or a god. So in my humble oppinion yes prayer should be allowed in schools. And to make it fair not just for the Christians there needs to be places and times set apart for the other faiths as well such as Hindu's, Islams, Muslims, Christians etc. I'm sick of hearing about this separation of Church and State garbage that the radical non's are pushing down our throats. That contradicts the freedom of speech ammendment and the freedom of religion etc. in our U.S. constitution. No the schools need not promote this but they need to allow it. Call your senators and representatives on the issue. Also don't you dare take one nation under God out of the Pledge or remove in God we trust from our money. This country was founded on God and the Bible period. Freedom is ours not the governments to decide who can do or say what and at what time or place. That choice is ours. It's a free country so be free.

It should be determined on local levels, to best suit each community.

My high school had a Christian Impact Club, and despite me not being all that religious, it didn't bother me at all. I didn't want to join, and I wasn't forced to. I have great respect for all religions and I personally find it rather confusing why it's such an awful thing for someone to pray.

Banning prayer is about as useless as fighting terrorism. It will continue regardless.

I think it is if it is led by a student. We should allow students to lead things. THe principal may not have the right to envoke a prayer. And all the students shouldn't be made to participate if they don't want to. What is the harm in prayer? Nothing. IF you do not believe in it, then so what if other people do. It's not harming you for others to pray.

I also think it's ok to have a moment of silence. that way people can meditate however they want to.

i don't see a double wide-unfold. gay delight Parades are actually not sanctioned via a non secular governing physique. So the separation of church and state argument is a moot component. additionally there is opposition to the two matters. some human beings do not choose for the prayer in faculties, yet some (inclusive of your self) look against gay delight parades. in case you desire to disallow gay parades, then you definately should additionally ban the Irish, Mexican and the different way of existence that American celebrates. i even have not something against faith. I say permit human beings do what they desire. I only don't comprehend why you sense threatened via gay delight parades whilst they haven't any correlation with the prayer in faculties. it is each and every of the government.

Yes! There should be a period everyday in school, about 1-2 minutes, where the students can pray silently to whoever they want.

It is ok for someone to pray in school and people do. It just shouldn't be required by the school. School shouldn't require someone to practice specific religion, but shouldn't stop someone from practicing.

No some people don't share the same beliefs so its pushing them into some thing they reject and you no one can push some on to do something they don't want. If "Christians" want to do it they should be put away from every one so that they don't offend people with there "beliefs" I would offend me if some "god"bashed told me he prayed to "god" for me.

Private praying is fine anywhere, however formal religios activities should not be allowed. As a group, on school grounds, while school is not in session, these all seperate issues. In general, no religious activities during school.
