You are dead-on in your assessment.
But since you took that position, I'll offer another.
If I could change just one thing, I would have made that change immediately following the 1973 Arab oil embargo...I would have mandated a national energy policy with strong emphasis on alternative energy and energy conservation.
I sincerely believe that much of our current domestic problems and certainly a lot of our foreign woes are directly related to our addiction to imported crude oil.
We had the opportunity to change the course of history back then, but every president since Nixon has ignored this issue.

I would change a political climate where a rational exchange of ideas and opinions is no longer possible. When liberals and conservatives, democrats and republicans, Christians and non-Christians can start working from the things they agree on then they can start maturely and rationally talking over the things they disagree on. Then and only then can this country start resolving issues such as jobs and health care.

i would end this rivalry between democrats and republicans.
it disgusts me how we cant seem to get any god damned solidarity. we're all humans and we're all americans. why must we always point the finger at SOMEBODY? all day long, democrats and republicans talk crap on each other, and nothing gets done. it's always somebody else in the wrong.
why cant we just get past that and grow up? it's EVERYWHERE. i cant even read the f ucking FUNNY PAGES without some cartoonist trying to insult one political party or another.
christ. instead of stupid bickering, cant we agree to work together?

work ethics. I like other countries way of looking at work better. Here in America we tend to view our job with too much importance. Other countries view life at home as top priority with jobs as something you do on the side. You see more perks and nice bonuses in other countries.

I would change it all, well not really all, but would elimenate every stoopid bueracracy that has been made law since 1778 and start from there. When freedom is denied, free people will revolt.

The most trivial thing for me would be to stop the stupid media from running the country. People hear and see all kinds of lies and half-truths and make decisions based on them.
