go up and down. Now they don't. I know it may sound stupid and a very small problem, but in the past when things ended up changing on my computer, it was virus related so I'm not going to overlook it just because it's nothing major. Doe anyone know why this would happen? Usually the word Volume or Vol. (I forget which) would pop up and then if I lowered the volume the lines would disappear one by one, or if I raised the volume more lines would appear. Now I don't see anything even though I'm changing the volume. It was fine yesterday but now, not so much. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks.

Most likely just a changed setting. The lines are from a program that runs in the background from you computer manufacturer or keyboard manufacturer. Now it is possible that you have installed a program that made it not visible. I have seen skinning programs do stuff like that. I have never seen a virus that cared about graphical things like that - I really wouldn't worry

Scan your computer first. If no spyware or adware or viruses are found, try uninstalling the keyboard in the device manager and then reboot. See if that works.
