I made a mistake in answering the question about Hitler being the best or worst German leader.
Hitler was never awarded a nobel Peace Prize as I mentioned; however he was named 'Man Of The Year" by Times in 1938..just to show that Hitler stared out as a very respected leader. I still believe that Hitler became mentally ill later on and those around him were not strong enough to get him into a mental asylum.

Adolf Hitler was nominated in 1939, though the nomination was retracted in February of the same year. Other infamous nominees included Joseph Stalin and Benito Mussolini.

The title of "Man of the Year" is frequently mistaken as being an honor. Many, including some members of the American media, continue to wrongly perpetuate the idea that the position of "Person of the Year" is a reward or prize, despite the magazine's frequent statements to the contrary. Part of the confusion stems from the fact that many admirable people have been given the title—perhaps the majority. Thus, journalists will frequently describe a new person of the year as having "joined the ranks" of past winners such as Martin Luther King. The fact that people such as Adolf Hitler - 1938 - have been granted the title as well is often less well-known. Just the fact that Adolf Hitler was considered the Person of the Year 1938 showed the fact that the award didn't necessarily mean "best human being of the year."

As stated above, his book 'Mein Kampf' was published as early as 1925/6 and already outlined the extent of his lunacy. He just didn't have the authority to do much damage back then.
His popularity as chanselor from 1933 to 1938 was based in large part on ending the massive unemployemnt... in large part by putting tens of thousands of people to work in the army and in the arms industry.
He was a sick puppy well before the war ever started.

If you read Hitler's bio you would know that he didn't start "out as a very respected leader." He fooled Great Britain, the United States, and even most of Europe until he invaded Poland on trumped up false pretexts.

Even in his pre-Fuhrer days, his character was extremely dubious.

I think you are on the right track. My estimate is that Hitler was very easily led by Julius Streicher, Josef Goebbels, an Heinrich Himmler. And other total misfits and theorists. He was respected because there was no one in Germany to rate him against.
