With one of the most important elections in the history of the world coming up why is the US hearing very little about the War in Iraq?

In the invasion of Iraq the neo-cons possessed and then protected corporate oil interests and put our troops in harms way by tasking them to force democracy onto 25 million people with inherently divergent cultural ideologies and goals.

Bremer ordered coalition troops to restrict the news media in Iraq. To use intimidation, harassment, abuse, detainment and even the imprisonment of journalists to control war news. And, not just Arab journalists as even major U.S. newspapers and broadcast networks have reported soldiers stifling coverage and seizing notes and photo files.

Where is the coverage of the fact that the Pentagon deflats the number of combat deaths in Iraq. If a soldier dies during transport or in surgery they're not counted, nor are suicides in Iraq or stateside counted. Yet, suicides "In Country" are twice that of any other war.

Absolutely. The corporate media structure in the US is predicated on selling advertising space. Most of the companies that buy that space are making money off of the war, so they will pull their advertising if the media steps out of line. They have the media by the short hairs.

"When you've got them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow."

Greetings!

Two point here. Firstly the government is limiting the availability of information as releases to the press. They control the TV media in the sense they make available to the Sunday talk shows people who hold high positions in government.
Secondly there is a reluctance of the press to do honest an accurate reporting which concerns the government which is for reasons unknown. So now you have no power of the press.
Very seldom will you see page one articles about Iraq, even on days where fifty or more have been killed and tortured.
Every thing it seems is carefully scripted. When impromptu questions are asked, they simply lie.
Even more compelling for the public to know and understand is the major injuries sustained by the troops.
If more data was put forth in a public forum media and otherwise, I believe what might jump out is the disproportionate number of injured as compared to the number of reported deaths.

I firmly believe the only resolve this government has for this country to survive, is to enact one term limits on politicians.

When you look at Iraq.......it is the US in twenty years or less.

Thanks
Good luck

Yes, I think so.
Who knows how many Iraqis are being killed in the countryside where the media coverage is low. In three years of war only 2000 US soldiers have died. Don't you think it is low.
Their was also another explanation for the suicide car attacks in Iraq by a US journalist.
He said that a Iraqi car would be stopped at an American checkpoint and the US soldiers while pretending to check the car would plant a bomb under the car. Then they would take the car licence and other documents of the driver and tell him to collect it in some crowded part of the city.
When the car goes there it blows.
Its call a suicide bomb.
