The words that come to mind are .. unusual, unique, different.
Like you, I love to here children's names that are that little bit different & you dont realy hear that often!!
The names I like are... Ebony, Tahlia & Pru (if I was to have another girl)
It's strange how you dont hear of a name and then from no where it becomes popular.
My eldest daughter who is now 13 was born in a small village in Scotland, most of the ladies/girls names were Lauren, Claire, Edith, sian, Mary etc...I had always liked the name Sophie and as I did not know one person called Sophie I called my daughter it.
When we moved to London and my daughter started school she was the 4th Sophie in her class of 28 children.
You never know you may start a trend!!!
Ps sorry to waffle on... All the best

The meaning is really cool, but the name itself seems hard to pronounce, I have no idea how to say it. She might have trouble with it growing up. I have an odd name and didn't like it when I was little but get alot of compliments on it now. This is your baby, the name you choose is up to you. If you really like this name, and can imagine using it everyday, then name her Diya. Kids are going to make fun of every name. My little sister's name is Amber and they called her Amberburger. So, no matter the name it will get made fun of, better to have a name that you and she will be comfortable with.

Ditto. That is cute and unique. Don't go changing it. Maybe you'll be the first person to name her Diya!

It's definitely different & I like the meaning, but be ready for people to constantly pronounce it incorrectly. I know before you put the pronunciation there, I pronounced it Die-yah.
The upside is, she can screen her calls as those who know her, will pronounce it correctly, and those that don't.....
My daughter's name is Kyra (pronounced Kear-ah), and I ended up asking her doctor's office to put a phonetic spelling in her chart, as they were always calling her "Kye-rah". I blame my husband as he insisted on the Ky spelling :)

It is a very pretty name. I would be careful for name calling though I can already think of a few that come to mind to pick on with that name.
I LOVE the meaning!!

It's origin is Arabic and means to shine. How about Daiya which has Polish roots? It means present.
