Without even knowing the reason, they just jump to conclusions! is it not the same thing if you give your child up for adoption? you are still stopping your child from having a life with it's mother...so what difference does it make. you abandon the child anyway...why judge that?

Abortion=child dies.
Adoption=child lives.

There's the difference.

Besides, if you don't like the answers don't ask the question.

To answer your question, people are judgemental because they are not yet mature enough to realise that there are other opinions than there own. As they mature, they will realise that they don not need to critisise people whose values are different, and that giving people abuse for their opinions is not productive. In the mean time, they feel so strongly about there opnion that they feel they must give it to everyone.

Your second question: There is a large difference between adoption and abortion. When a child is given to adoption they are born and allowed a life, albeit with another family. If you ask adopted children for their opinion, most would say they have no issue with being adopted (This is a separate debate to whether they have had a good life, or wish to seek their birth mother) Babies that are aborted are not given a chance to life, with their own mother or with an adoptive family.

I have always been anti-abortion, but I supported my friend who underwent one a while a go. It was extremely difficult for both of us, made worse by the fact I have sub-fertility and am currently waiting for IVF. Despite this, I felt the most important thing to do was support her.

Another reason people are so judgemental is that abortion is a very emotive subject that brings up personal, religious and cultura arguments.

I try very hard NOT to be judgemental. I fully and completely support a woman's right to control her own body, and for her to have the right to choose abortion if she believes that's the right thing for her.
At the same time, I sincerely wish that there weren't any abortions being done. We need more education concerning birth control so both men and women can prevent unwanted pregnancies. If carrying an unwanted pregancy to term and giving it up for adoption is a viable option, I think it would be better than aborting the baby...but I don't buy the neo-con argument that every baby would be adopted, there are far too many children that spend their whole lives in institutions and foster care. In a perfect world, there wouldn't have to be any abortions. Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world -- and if a woman decides that's the best option for her, I support her completely.

Many belief systems have a basis for defining life as beginning at conception. Ending life is murder, so thus...

Many of these systems also teach that responsibility for conception is soley upon the couple at the moment of conception. Which some people use as an excuse to judge the parents.

The real question is: Why judge anybody?

That is mostly a political issue masked behind religion, I think. Better to not do it than to spend too much time studying and judging those responsible. Your energy is too precious for wasting... You could be saving the world by just cleaning your room! (butterfly effect and all.)

It's the same thing with any controversial issue. It is very easy to point fingers at someone else and say horrible things, especially if they have never been in that situation themselves.
I don't agree with you that abortion and adoption are the same things, because a baby that is born can grow up in a healthy environment with adopted parents, but I agree with you that the judgment towards women is unfair.

When I voted for abortion, It was to protect the many young girls dieing from illegal abortions with coat hangers and such. Not as a birth control aid. I was told at the time it would be supervised, counseled. When I hear of abuse I get upset.
Now with all the birth control products, I say no to all but rape and health and it should be a state issue for the girl or woman to be able to seclude herself until the birth and adoption.

If you abandon the child the child can still live, learn. have fun, have a life.

An abortion says that you only care about your self. If you don't want to have a baby you should not be having unprotected sex. If you are raped go to the hospital & they will give you Plan B before the fertalized egg can even turn into a baby.

Life without your birth mother would be a little different than being DEAD and not having life at all don't you think? If you want to kill your an urborn child you are WELL within you leagl right to so.
Have fun with it, I won't judge you I don't care about your reasons. Throw a party and celebrate if you want.

I personally think it would be wrong. But hell we live in the land of do as you please.

It will always be a controversial issue...and especially because of the "when does life begin" debate.

Bottom line is the woman should do what is right for her. She's the one that has to live with the decision. The zygote or fetus (if it got that far) won't ever know the difference.

You surely are free to voice your opinion.
But what "legal right" are you referring to?
Adoption and abortion is the opposite ends of each other.
One is life the other is death.
Thats not even a rational statement you made.

I believe that a person should be able to choose yes or no when it comes to abortion. But I still don't believe abortion is morally right but I will defend your options to have one.

We must be tolerant of each others differences.
You like pepsi- I like Dr. pepper- we can agree to disagree but
its not judgmental to offer one's opinion.
To force an opinion on a person would be judgmental.

becaus they find it hard to beleive that u would give a child something that they find near and dear to their hearts but i say people must understand that if a person is not ready to be a perant they must give up the child it is to the beter benefit to the child and the child bearer. I gues people find thatt if u dont do things that are considered normal they sureky must be wrong.
