My Mother has a 1995 Mercury Marquis. About two years ago, her windows and locks would no longer work. She has taken it back to the dealership about 3 times and each time they do something else, it works for a day or two and they charge her tons and tons of money. Now, her driver door window and locks work, but the other windows no longer go up or down. Help!!! What can be done? What can it be? I can't see her paying tons more money on this thing. I told her she needs to get a new car, but she really loves this car.

She shouldn't have to be paying "tons and tons" of money for these repairs. Without knowing all the CONDITIONS of those problems, it can be a number of things. Master (or driver) window and lock control swtich assembly. It could be the passenger window and/or lock control switch (although unlikely given your description of the problem). She is in the right to love her car. These cars were one of Ford Motor Company's more reliable vehicles. With that said, I would say this car IS worth putting some money into, to keep roadworthy (unless the body is rusted, which is also unlikely). The only thing maintenance wise, that I would recommend doing SPECIFICALLY the this car, is to have the EGR passages cleaned out periodically. Other than that, just keep doing the routine oil changes and other maintenances on schedule, and it will give her YEARS of reliable service, someting that can't be said of some of their other models.

it sounds like the main switch on the drivers door is bad, when you took it into the dealer all they probably did was take it apart and spray it with electrical cleaner and then put it back together and charge you and arm and a leg. You can get the whole switch for probably under 100$ it isn't to hard to have it put in.
