If I had a nickel for every old wives tale that I heard - that was incorrect - I'd probably be able to buy a house in Beverly Hills by now.

I've always heard that girls carry high - yet I've always carried high with both my boys & girls. I've always heard that fast heartbeats mean girls - but my boys have always had faster heart rates than my girls did. Cravings - I craved different things with each pregnancy, and none of it had anything to do with having a boy or a girl. The ring on the string thing? Yeah, try it again - you'll get a different answer every time. Morning sickness - I was sickest with this pregnancy with my twins, but the pregnancies before these guys were pretty light.

I've had 3 boys, & 2 girls. Now awaiting 2 more boys. There is only one method of finding out what sex of baby you're having. Modern medical science.

Ultrasounds can detect a baby's sex after the 16th week of pregnancy. If a mother has an amnio or a CVS testing, the baby's sex can be determined by the chromosomes.

The rest - old wives tales. And if someone asked me about how I felt about those old wives...I would tell you that those old wives needed to have laid off the moonshine before telling such stories.

Those are all untrue ways to tell... The only real way is to wait for your ultrasound, around 20 weeks. Everyone told me that I was carrying a boy because of how I was carrying the baby, it was a girl. People have all sorts of stupid ways to tell, but just wait for the ultrasound to be sure.

There are plenty of old wives tales that say you can determine the sex of a baby, and maybe they can.
But the truth in my opinion is the only way to know is to ask the sonographer if they can tell when having an ultrasound scan!
They can still get it wrong though!

Not really....some people say they can tell....but I wouldn't trust unless I had some tangible evidence.

An ultrasound or blood test are the best ways to determine the sex of the baby....an ultrasound can be done at about 18-20 weeks to show sex.

No, not really. They're all old wives tales. I know my mother didn't have morning sickness either time, but she was like 3 times the size with my sister than with me (both girls). Another friend had HORRIBLE morning sickness the second time (both boys). Another friend threw up for six months straight with her son, then with her daughter, almost nothing. There's no exact science.

I wouldn't trust that. Everyone can give their opinion and guess what? They have a 50/50 chance of being right.

I'd just wait until you can get an ultrasound and then know for sure.

Ultrasound, is usually pretty good, but not 100%...cuz sometimes the lil thing could be hiding.

The way you carry or feel is pretty much an old wives tale.

Have a doctor give you a test and tell you the gender of the baby

2006-09-28 06:26:40 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Definitely not, those are all myths. The only thing that can tell you, and its not even 100 % accurate, is the sonogram youll get at your 4 mo check up.
