The old standby is to cut off the power, then stick half a potato in to grasp the broken bulb, turn to remove. It works.

Get a potato and cut it in half...turn of the electricity and put the potato over the socket the potato will hold the broken glass and the broken light bulb should twist out of the socket

ok..you need to have half-boiled potato..so that the broken bulb can pierce the potato. cut potato into half. and pierce it to broken bulb in the socket. make sure you DONT push too hard as bulb may break inside the potato. once u feel it is firmly sunk in the potato..turn the potato as if a bulb and u r done. broken piece comes out of socket.
I assumed: you have socket at reacheble place, you have potato(enogh supply to meet the demand), water to boil utensil to boil, fuel to boil, good combstioN creating conditions for fire to boil the potato, you know how to turn on the fire, matchbox and sticks, lighter to spark a fire, etc...

major assumption:it was a incandecent bulb and not a TUBE LIGHT!!!!

Turn off the power. Cut a potato in half. Shove the half into the broken light bulb and you should be able to unscrew it. Works every time!

Everyone says that a potato works..but i've actually used a pair of needle nose pliers. First turn off the power--that's the most important thing! Then i took a pair of needle nose pliers, managed to wiggle it in between the socket and the screw-in part, and unscrewed it from the socket

someone told me once that you cut a potato in half and press it firmly into the socket and the bulb will stick into the potato and you just twist it out...not sure, but be careful!!

Obviously you need to make sure there's no power to
it first. That being said, use an apple. Push even a 1/2
an apple onto the broken part & unscrew. Good Luck.

Turn off the power, get a potato and stick it up there and use the potato to unscrew the busted bulb. TURN POWER OFF FIRST!

been an electrician for over 30 yrs never heard of this potato head scheme..my steps are as follows: turn off power at breaker...then turn off switch...then tape over both so no one walks along and turns them back on.....then get very small needle nose pliers...and a small flat head screwdriver...
pry the edge of the metal base out a bit inward so you can fit the pliars under and then squeeze the pliars very tight...and twist them to the left and keep twisting...and the metal bulb base will actually twist around your pliars and wrap itself around them as you continue to twist left till its out....or you need to pull off the excess metal around the pliars..and restart.. its pretty easy doing it this way...and yu dont waste a potato(does that really work?the potato i mean)
