I say free money is good money but my church says if you gamble then you don't believe that God will make a way, I'm confused on the issue myself.

Winning the lottery can be a very good thing if you get help ahead of time. I always tell people that if I win the lottery I will give 10% to my church , and then decide how much to close friends and family (as long as they don't ask me) If anyone asks, they get zip. I'd keep about 5% to pay bills and take a holiday then invest the rest. For my investment..I'd get qualified, professional help. That's my opinion..haha. Chances are I never will win though. So be it. Life goes on. :)

yes it will change my view of life. I'd love to win the lottery i have so many plans like 1. I have about 8 inventions that i want to get patented and into the market.
2. I'd find out how to get grants, donations to help with starting a center that revolves around children of all ages. It will be open 24/7.I'd have a nurse. I would like it to serve 3 meals and snacks a day. everything will be provided for the children. I'd have teachers to teach our children for about 7 hrs a day, would have a after school program in it, i'd have staff to care for babies and children if the parents needed to go to work and couldn't afford to have a babysitter. If the parents didn't come back to pick up the child then i'd have no problem continiung trying to assist the child till the parent decides to show up. I'd try to have it set up so the child can stay there without having to go into the foster care system.
3. I'd try to donate money to stem cell research because i believe that it will be helpful to us all.

with all the good that i try to do there will always be unexpected things/bad that happen in life. But for most of the part i control my life and make choices.

I suppose for someone who is less than educated and less than smart, winning the lottery could be a bad thing. He/she could spend all the money foolishly or waste it all on expanding their mobile home. For most people, though, winning the lottery would be a blessing. I know for me it would. Worrying about money (or the lack thereof) is one of the worst feelings in the world. Money doesn't buy happiness, but it does buy peace of mind, which is priceless. Of course people who are wealthy still have problems. It's just much easier to deal with those problem when you're not worried about having the electricity shut off because you couldn't afford to pay the bill.

I think sudden money just makes you more of what you already are:
If you are careless and unstable-more so with money.
If you are kind and generous, more so.
Evil and scheming-more
Selfish and greedy-more
Most people think they are smarter with money than they really are-and find out the hard way that they are dummies.
I think you are right, tho, most people would be better off with normal amounts of money , and quiet little lives.
I know I am perfectly content, but I still play the lottery once in a while-just for a lark. If I did win, I hope I would continue to be generous, grounded and happy--in villa in the south of France.

Winning the lottery would completely change my life, but it would not change my VIEW of life. I would still love the people that I love, have the same political and religious views, etc.
The lottery IS gambling--it's state-sanctioned gambling, and the government wins every single time because it collects taxes on the winnings.
Are you saying that gambling is immoral? I mean, is that what is "bad" about it?

There was a book written about this very subject (dont know the name) But if revisits people years later who won huge lotteries. EVERY single one of them says that it was more detrimental to their lives than beneficial in the long run. Sure certain problems can be taken care of with lots of money, but sooooo many new ones take their place, and they are usually the kind that cant be fixed so easily. Destroyed relationships etc.
People who work hard and earn millions don't have as much of this problem as average people who have millions over night.

I agree. I think it can be good or bad. Some place that win, hopefully, don't let all the money get to their head. But I can totally see it more as a bad thing. I'd get paranoid with people asking me for money if I won.

According to me ITS A BAD & WRONG THING!

Cuz so many people inves their money and one walks away with it all, giving nothing back to the other investors in the process.

Whereas, the committee system is much better, where investors invest an amount every month and take monthly turns as to decide who will get the entire collections. This way sooner or later, all investors benefit after investing!

Its only better, if the person winning has the maturity to handle a sudden increase in wealth.

Many of the winners were not capable of managing that sudden wealth... The ones that were, put the $$$ into investments or didnt spend it on stupid stuff, till they had the wins locked away in some way.
