We will be storing breastmilk for 3 to 9 months. We are getting a dedicated deep freezer but are looking for the best continer to store the milk in. We understand the bags can catch some of the milk fat in the creases so are looking elseware.

We need something which can also be stored in high density. We need to be able to pack it tighly in the freezer.

The bags work well, once you thaw the milk everything mixes again, besides they fit together VERY well. If you're still not into the bags, Avent and Medella both have containers that are fairly cheap, but are specifically made for breastmilk storage. Be sure that no matter what you choose it's made to withstand the temperatures in the new freezer.

Lansinoh breastmilk freezer bags...they come pre-calibrated and have a special tab for labeling that won't endanger the rest of the bag by writing on it...they can lie flat and freeze that way...even in the tiny freezer compartment of our fridge, I was still able to stack 10 or 12 at a time. Also, they're double-thickness, so there's little risk of freezer burn. Hope this helps! :) You can find'em at Target, Baby Depot, or other baby specialty stores.

I used both the bags as well as the medela bottles. Had no problems with either. Never had any milk fat caught in the creases of the bags. At the hospital they just used plastic similac bottles. I personally liked the bags because they used less space.

I like the gerber 6oz breastmilk storage bags.. they are super thick and have the zipclose seal... I don't know of the fat getting into the creases with those...

Also-A little more for the price are the advent plastic bottles.. I believe they only hold 4oz and they have a screw on lid..

I used glass bottles that I purchased along with my pump from the hospital, they atre super sanitary & can be frozen thawed & reused time & time again. Itt is a bit costly in the beging but it pays off over time.
