the individual--

I believe it is evident in the way western society conducts itself and advises others that we have become much more self-centered, and discarded traditionally-held values of honor, respect, and duty to others.

I always feel the individual is the most important. Isn't that always the starting point of anything big? Groups have major power, but it all starts with the conviction, co-operation, dedication, will of one person, when he/she joins a group....or when he/she himself brings a group together. What's a group, if people don't want to stay in it? So it all boils down to the individual. Even if we are not talking of a group here, a single individual can be the seed of something HUGE in any society, in any era, at any point in time. And we don't usually realize the impact, but a single individual....always *affects* others around them too. I never ever underestimate the power of a single individual.
