Personally, I HATE to bargain for something. Just pick a fair price, post the price where I can see it, and leave me alone. I'll either buy it or not... but I hate feeling like either I'm being cheated or I'm cheating someone else. Most of the time I'll just not even consider buying something if I know I'm going to have to bargain for it.

because in other countries that is what you do. in Italy, you bargain with the street vendors to get a better price. you never give them what they are asking for items because they expect for you to bargain with them. prices are much higher than they should be to allow for such bargaining.

people visiting don't understand that we don't do things that way in the U.S. for the most part.

'Cause people are cheap, and if you are in a foreign country and you screw down the shop owner, you probably will never see them again.
