The repugnicans desperately need a healthy drug trade to stay in power, if real efforts were made to stem the tide of addiction and drug-related crime, repugnicans would lose the ability to show how 'tough' they are on crime by making ever longer sentences for addicts and denying them treatment. Thereby compouding the problem because nobody ever gets well. They can then point to any attempt by democrats to ease overcrowding and treat addicts as being 'soft' on crime, and 'coddling' criminals.

The COUNTRIES don't smuggle drugs, drug smugglers do. They do it because they make a lot of money selling drugs to people who use them.

They probably don't sell to many puritans, since most puritans probably don't use drugs.

Drug dealers rarely care about the religious beliefs or affiliations of those to whom they sell drugs, so they probably don't discriminate against non-christians.

They don't sell drugs to people against their will; they sell to people who want to buy.

If you want to eliminate drug smuggling, work to change the laws that make drug use illegal.
