I am young, but a fan of the old. The best country music out in my opinion now is Johnny Cash's latest cd 100 highways. It's excellent. I also really dig Shooter Jennings. He's got his fathers gall and a voice of his own.
Here's my two cents for Sue. I love that Bob Dylan has made a country record (Nashville Skyline) it's genius. I also love the new cd of covers (Pay the Devil) by Van Morrison. These are musicians, they are not products of the media, the consumer, or their label. They have creative minds that don't want to stay within imaginary boundaries. Besides, in my opinion, country musics boundaries have been broken. The new stuff is much closer to pop than to Hank Sr, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, the Carter Family....etc..(which I consider true country music).

I'm not a huge country fan (but I like all kinds of music!), but I love Rascal Flatts' "What Hurts the Most" and Johnny Cash's "God's Gonna Cut You Down."

I saw the video on CMT for Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats." She has an amazing voice, and it definitely shows in the song. That one is my current favorite. Right now I also like Miranda Lambert's "New Strings" and Keith Anderson's "Every Time I Hear Your Name."

I am old, I think Johhny Cashs last album, 101 Highways was excellent. As a country music fan, how do you feel about former stars like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springstein, and Van Morrison leaping onto the country bandwagon, I am just curious. Please send a note, thanks.
