I am an impartial questioner. The question I posted above was overheard in a conversation by a well known financial writer. The hypothesis is that many people voted republican in the last election with the aforementioned mindset.

so... you get back at wall street by voting in someone that gives investors HUGE tax cuts on their investments, which Republicans have done, and large personal tax cuts in their personal lives... and also have given companies huge tax breaks and grants, like for example oil companies during a time of record profit, no less, and also still promotes an economic agenda that pushes American jobs to places like China and Central America... so that those big businesses can maximize profit by paying people 1/50th of what they earn in the U.S....

That would be a nay. Liberals are the ones who want to "get back" at Wall Street, big business, and all those so-called grubby guys who steal money from the rest of "us." Don't know who this "us" you're referring to includes. Question for you: How do Wall Street, big business, and these other greedy individuals you speak of steal from "us"? The CEOs of the huge companies haven't come around to rob my house, and I don't have stockbrokers or investors trying to steal my cars or plunder my bank accounts, so what are they stealing and how are they doing it? Why is it that certain people believe that the only way people on Wall Street and in big business can make money is by taking it away from someone else? What ever happened to the concept of EARNING money by working for someone or providing goods/services that people want? And have you noticed that a lot of the people who live below the poverty line in this country simply sit on their lazy @$$es except to waddle down to the Welfare Office once a month to demand "Gimme my check!"?!?!!

If people wanted to get back at the grubby greedy guys, they would not vote for either the Republicans or the Democrats.

Our current two party dominated system is leading us no where. They fight back and forth to divert the public's attention from the reality that they are all mostly self serving grubb greedy guys and gals who are flushing our nation down the toilet.

I voted republican because I am a Christian and I don't believe in gay rights,abortion, or giving money to deadbeat,lazy,non-working people. We are to work for our food. If Kerry had been elected we would be speaking Arabic and letting gay people get married in the white house lawn and killing baby's in the back yard to raise money for ted Kennedy's drug rehab.

To state that that Reps'/Dems steal is DECEIT WITH INTENT. Failure to assess the INTENT behind ANY statement-especially those that ask ..do you agree.. is what makes "marks" or rabid unthinking followers who willing preach the deceit which gathers more unthinking "believers".
....Think about the topic-- who is stealing our $$$..??? Thieves right? thieves exist and use their skills and actions to secure their desire(s). The political aspect .""".I voted REP..? The intent of this question is to produce political rants that villify or justify "Reps or Dems".

-THEIVING Legislators oath to serve /protect is SECONDARY to their personal need to secure their perk-filled job. Much of the legislative branch defines "work" as -plotting the next strategy, crafting spin ,scheduling fund raising events, smoozing "supporters", securing airtime by absurd statements or demands, working personal deals that secure personal power or some lucrative project for their "supporters",ranting that THEIR opinion/ideology is the ONLY righteous way or the "key" as verified by unnamed sources/carefully designed Poll or research data and the concurrent agreement of EX military/other politcos active/ex or just in need of attention,book sales ,professors and analysists conclusions from independantly funded organizations.
-These thieves have RE-DEFINED WORK to include:
--> show up in DC only when it fit ones schedule-(usually tuesday to thurs as Mon is "fly in day" thurs pm &friday is "fly out day") or if pressured,
-- >table anything that may risk loss of lucrative support and voters
-->change the #of work days ,increase salary --> promise that everyone in need will receive relief... courtesy of the other tax payers.(note since the Republican welfare reform law signed by Clinton--welfare rolls have shrunk by over 60%...poverty has decreased...)
-->WASTE time and $$ creating partisan forums /special invstigations when no action can or will be taken (i.e. grill oil executives)or creating days of sideshow media frenzy to get to a simple up down vote on ANY appointee including supreme court judges.
-->Create controvery (need for serious discussion using the MEDIA)to limit/constrain,the other branches constitutional powers. Justify using "leaks" or rumors or a "statement of belief" that a crime was committed, a conspiracy exists, .....
--> Waste time $$ creating delays in action because of claims that they have not yet received ALL the necessary info (or want to create/obtain other "info/opinions/assessments" from selected sources) oversight WHEN they r 2 lazy /busy to gosing in and actually read classified intel or attend their committee meeting briefing.
Waste work time coddling A member such as McCain whose personal trauma as a POW has influenced his ability to comprehend that no law ,desire,or promise can constrain a murderous fanatic's use of barbaric cruelty. His desire that no one suffer his shame/trauma resulting from unconfortable interrogation is not relevent to the basic question ----Are american lives less important than the comfort of the detainee? Humans are both cruel and kind. Cruelty HAS always been employed when the humans believe survival or the survival of their own is at stake.

A dysfunctional Legislative Branch obsessed with political power plays,raising $$ to secure their position paralized by their unwillingness/or inability to conduct essential business WILL Damage this country And CAUSE UNNECESSAR DEATH OF AMERICANS.
As with all political rants,they produce nothing but stress relief and anger in others.
The obsession with political discourse/rants is an age-old technique . Maybe we should all remember that Enemies (terrorists),and those who want to "take/steal (i.e.illegals) know that internal dissention leaves the gate unguarded and prevents swift retaliation.
