properties and various windows stuff wont come up and there doesnt seem to be a way to fix it! believe it's a virus but no scans detect it. when i click on properties a small black window appears with system32/rundlll.exe or something to that effect at the top. Help!

you didn't state which version of windows. in xp goto start menu all programs accessories system tools system restore and restore to earlier point till you get rid of it. in earlier versions you could try installing a fresh copy of internet explorer, instead of reinstalling windows. a program you installed has more likely done this. i once had problems with a program that i installed to give me optional drive icons in the right hand bottom tray.

Doesn't look good. Many viruses use the rundll32.exe program to execute themselves.

Scan your PC for viruses (www.avast.com) and spyware (www.lavasoft.com).
