Keeping in mind the menu would have burgers (like McDonalds), chicken (like KFC), but of course Fish and chips, with their special sauces, vinegars, etc. I'm told that in the subcontinent, (india and pakistan), the avg person normally eats fish in the winters, would this be a problem for a chain store...around 50 restaurants in delhi and mumbai initially, and then total 400 around the country after within 5 years...Would the traditional English fish and chips taste appeal to the subcontinental taste buds?

If you are looking for profit making- you will also have to keep Veg Pakodas & Veg Sandwitch alongwith it. Even McDonald is selling more Veg Burgers in India and less Non-Veg Burgers. Moreover, you have to be very choosy in locating your restaurants which should be located in places like South Delhi & South Mumbai and Malls of Gurgaon. And to begin with you need to start with only 5 in Delhi & 5 in Mumbai and develop taste & clientele and after seeing response you can expand.Nirulas were doing very well in Pizzas but after Pizza Hut came they lost business and have reportedly got sold out or are for sale.It all depends who outdates whom in taste. And if you also have a bar licence- you can be successful.

Now it quite is a "loose- for- all "in India. funds skill and muscle skill and utter immorality rule the rustic. In such circumstances the call "powerful democracy" is very questionable.India has become a super mess. on condition that the loads of hundreds stable close by language communities assert the old cultural values of all religions and make certain social equality and take oath on social and economic uplift India can not regain its place of know. India is totally a federation and resembles Europe with its countless particularly progressed languages and cultures.

I think you have to customize it to local customs and tastes. It
might be successful with the right financing and marketing in
place. India is very receptive to Western culture, so go for it.
