my daughter is 36 & 1/2 weeks pregnant. It's been too long for me to remember when I passed my mucous plug. She mentioned she wiped and there was a small amount of "clear" mucouse. I thought it was pinkish. Any advice? I'm at work and wondering if I should go to be with her. She's alone.

I lost mine during the last month of my pregnancy. It came out slowly over several weeks. Mine was clear and very mucous-y. However, my best friend lost her's entirely on the day she gave birth - all at once.

It is different for all women.

I was also dilated to 2 cm for 3 weeks. I was going to be induced, but luckily went into labor the day of induction without the induction meds.

you can pass your mucus plug at any point after 26 weeks. If it was clear, and she's sure it was, then that wasn't the plug. There should be some pinkish or brownish blood with it. I passed mine with my first child at 27 weeks and still carried to term. There's no need to panic or feel as if she'll go into labor just because she passed her plug. If she did, the doctor can diagnose it by simply examining her. THanks for being such a loving and concerned parent though, a lot of girls don't have that luxury.

I believe it is usually pink or light brownish. I passed mine about 36 weeks too and I was a week late. It can come out all at once or over a period of a few days in small bits.

I lost mine over a period of a week, it was pinkish in color and very thick. But, just because she loses her mucus plug does not guarantee labor, some women go weeks without one. Good luck to her, if that is it then it's a good first step, but she'd really like the baby to "bake" a little bit longer :)

you can pass the "plug" over week. Some just do it with a few chunks. But some never seem to (or they did, but it could be in the mid of night and not looking). It doesn't mean labor is going to start though, definitely not within hours, usually days to weeks.

I am sorry for being sort of gross but the best way I can describe it is a wad of snot like substance (can have traces of blood). I lost mine 2 weeks before my due date and went into labour 3 days later. So, it can be a very good source as to when someone will go into labour. I would go be with her but when you have a few days that you can spend there as it doesn't necessarily mean it will be that day. Good luck!

It could have been. She might want to call her ob. Usually it does seem to blood tinged though. When I had my second child for two days before I had her the mucus was present every time I went to the restroom but it was blood tinged.
