I once turned in a co-worker for embezzling money from the bank we both worked at. She was suspended for a week, and then brought back into the same position when she paid back what she had taken. Within 6 months she was promoted to be MY supervisor, and within 2 years she was promoted to Assistant Vice President......!!! Talk about screwed up!

Yes, I think that many companies do just that. In my company, the hiring and raising policies are very inconsistent and do not seem to be related to workplace value and good work ethics. Sorry to say, but a good set of hooters will get you a lot further in my company than good work ethics and long and faithful service. Reverse sexual discrimination?, probably, but if you try to rectify the situation you may find yoursel out of a job. I'm so close to retirement that it is not worth the effort to sue them. It does offend me that people are being hired at starting salary levels near what I make as a supervisor with 8 years seniority! It's not fair, but that's the way it is and there seems to be darn little that can be done about it. I'm so close to retirement I can't afford to rock the boat.

Weasels always get ahead. and those who say they don't have a weasel or a rat is the rat. Every company has one. But, yu must know, the reason they get promoted is because every employer wants to hire the guy no oe like to be the boss. if no one likes him he won't give special treatment to anyone.

No it doesn't. I find that the ones who do the least work, but have the best rapport with management are the ones who get ahead. They spend half the day bullshitting with the boss, while others pull their extra weight, then they get promoted.

That's because they tell the management what they want to hear, not how it really is.
