This is NOT science. Go away and ask your stupid non-science questions in a different area.

Not sure, and no.

Honestly, this question doesn't belong here in the science section, because science hasn't yet been able to convincingly demonstrate that there is such a thing as ghosts.

The problem tends to be that when people find evidence it's inconclusive ("Something really wierd is going on here, that isn't normal!") but they can't demonstrate exactly what's going on. Plus, they can't reliably repeat the same effect, which is a vital part of scientific inquiry.

Just because hauntings haven't been proven scientifically doesn't mean they aren't real. But it does mean that you have to make your own decision to believe or not believe based off other resoning, like personal experience, which is notoriously untrustworthy.

Personally I don't know what to believe. I am certain that there are strange things going on in places that are deemed "haunted" and in many of these places there were deaths etc. A lot of the time the circumstantial evidence adds up and a haunting would make sense. But you need direct evidence to prove something scientifically, which is where the whole thing usually fails.

I do believe..... I use to live in an apartment that was haunted. I saw the man once. He was standing next to my bed staring at me. It was a very intent look. I always felt like someone was watching me. After that I moved to another apartment & strange things would happen like one time in my son's bedroom I had a bunch of stuffed animals on a shelf when we woke up in the morning they were all in a pile in the middle of the floor & my son said that a person was in his closet & came out & started playing with his animals. Now I own a house & I have seen an old man watching me when I clean. It is very exciting to be able to hear & see things that nobody else can. Hope this isn't too long for everybody to read.

Once again, Christianity enters into this question. A scientist might say that there are spirits that do not rest for whatever reason, A Christian
knows that we are at present living in a world controlled by Satan until Jesus Christ and God come back to earth and take over and Satan uses spirits to take you into his world a
very dark and dangerous world, if you are "Smart" you will have nothing to do with "Spirits", or the Occult,etc.etc.

Whether or not I believe in haunted houses is not a question that should be addressed here. This is a science forum, not a forum on superstitution.

I believe that I lived in one. We lived in a 100 year old, stone farm house that had an old barn on the land. I was snooping through the loft and found and old needle point picture that said honour thy father and mother so I gave to my mom to hang in the house. We tried hanging it in the front hall near the front door and the picture seemed to jump right off the wall. We tried 4 or 5 other places and the same thing happened until finally we hung it in the bathroom upstairs and it stayed. Mom had it re-framed and found a name on the back...Mrs. Anderson and after finding her name more strange things started to happen like the toilet flushing with nobody home (except me), footsteps in the attic, and a light coming on in the barn where ther was no electricity. It was wierd but not scary. We learned to share Mrs. Anderson's house with her and had no problems at all.

Scientists have proved that houses can have spirits. It is called Quantum Energy and they have machines to pick it up. The term haunted makes people NOT believe these things exist and also using the term ghost makes people not believe. Spirits can be in your house for many reasons. Lost souls who have not crossed over.

yes I believe that houses are haunted, yes I have. It was midnight and some of my friends went into a house that was cleaned out after the person who lived there die.we went inside and look for stuff to take, found very little left behind.as we moved to the second floor I hard a voice telling us to get out of their house, we left only to return the next night and to our surprise that voice was everywhere and loud and angry we left never went back there again.

When we were young in our old house we had a relative staying in a guest room and he said he was moving cause he couldn't take it anymore. He says that every night he would feel someone putting their hand on his forehead. When he moved out we had doubts so my brother stayed in that room and sure enough he was outta there quick. He says he felt someone touch his stomach. It's been said that when people die in their house that they're spirit stays. I think the more you believe in it and give into it the more real it seems...

Yes and yes!!

I've often encountered some form of "spirit", have a friend who has a photograph of a "ghost monk" walking in a church on the original floor that is 18" below the current floor level.

But my favorite was the old house I lived in a while ago. It had a "ghost" black cat that would wander in and out of the master bedroom! Freaked me out the first time, then I got used to it. But it REALLY freaked out my REAL cat. He NEVER got used to it and it just confused him when the cat would not play or would disappear on him! LOL!!
