What could they be doing up there that would benefit you and I more than putting all that science & money into research to get us off oil ? Hey...Build the car ...Cure Cancer and then if nothing elese comes up then go back up and do what ever they do. Help me understand...

So we cure cancer and get wiped out by a hurricane we didn't see coming?
Or we build a great car that doesn't need oil and get wiped out by terrorists we didn't see because we didn't have spy satellites?
Or.......
Its not an either/or thing.
Remember fuel cells and composite materials were developed for the space program.
What about learning about more than the little pea we live on?
The people with smarts to build a rocket, can't just pick up a microscope and cure cancer.
How many more reasons do you need?

They should find alternate means of space travel. And stop wasting money on the space station and space shuttles.

NASA doesn't design automobile engines. It's Chrysler, GM and Ford that need to start spending their money designing affordable hydrogen cars. Unfortunately, our current government won't allow it. Bush's family and friends make too much money destroying our environment.
