If you honestly believe that this war is about spreading democracy, you are dreaming. This war is about expanding US influence by ultimately establishing a permanent military presence in Iraq. Its about removing governments that are hostile to US interests and replacing them with puppets that will do as they are told. Unfortunately, this isn't exactly a new phenomenon. The States has done this time and again, supporting brutal regimes that are favorable to America and removing elected leaders of countries that are are hostile to the States.

I would have to say not doing a very good job of "spreading" it at all. No, you cannot Impose your beliefs on another country, any more than you can an indivdual. Try to tell a Bush fan to vote for Hillary Clinton (or any democrat) and see how far that gets you.

No offense Bush lovers. It works both ways. You'll never make a Democrat vote for a Bushista,

Allowing peopleto choose democracy is always agood thing. the trrorists are trying to force the country to folow a taliban style of government like the one overthrown in Afghanistan where nobody had any rights, and women were killed forsimply going outside. Do you really want that kind of regime spreading?

"Enforcing' is not democratic to begin with. The true democracy is to understand the people and democracy is one in which it is recognized that majority decisions are not binding on the minority! The minority can refuse to consent and are free to leave it!
It seems nowdays democracy is a word to maintain status quo, idelogy and belief by whoever person who in-charge in the Office!
I agree with one of the posting..it is a sugar-coated communism modify just to look good for the image!

We aren't - You can't teach democracy through the barrel of a gun ! Sorry, that's not how it works.

Can you imagine if Canada decided to help us
by occupying the US , because they felt that our way of life was threatened by this pack of wolves now in charge of the country ?

We'd rally and throw them out, not because
we love our Dear Leader , but because it is OUR COUNTRY , Not Theirs!

Face it - How many different reasons has the
pResident given for this war in Iraq. Democracy in Iraq ? I don't think so.
Look at how Afghanistan has turned out -- back to the Taliban , and growing a bumper crop of
poppies for Heroin to support all their terrorist
financial needs !

I personally think that democracy is a sugar-coated form of communism. It is the same thing only they let the people vote on their beliefs....but the votes don't really count. That's just my opinion though.

How was Saddam helping his country by killing hundreds of thousands? Everyone bashes the U.S. for stepping up and doing what had to be done. What needed to happen before everyone decided it would be a good idea to go to Iraq? An attack in your backyard perhaps?

We're not forcing our beliefs on them, they can believe what they want. They just die if they want to. I feel like if they want to be martyrs, we ought to help them. Look at it, as if it's a form of foreign aide. We are providing a service the UN refused to provide.

In what sense are we forcing our beliefs on people?
There have been free elections in Iraq and a government has been duly elected by the Iraqi people.
