Any and all downloaded programs have the potential of carrying a virus. Before you download anything make sure you have up to date anti-virus software installed and whenever possible download the software onto removal media and scan it before installing.

There are a lot of "free" screen savers and stuff that Install Spyware and Adware in your Computer, although not really viruses.

The P2P software called Kazaa also delivers Adware.
Always read the terms in which the "free" sofware is delivered, before you click in YES.
