I'm really at odds about this one; I'll be spending very close to the same price either I go- if I can find a $500 PS3.

YOU SHOULD DEFINETLY GO FOR AN XBOX 360
its cheaper {but i reccomend the hard disk option}
it uses hd dvd which holds 80 gigs on the disc
it has a three core processor which you cant even put in a computer. a 500 mb ati video chipset.

I'd go with the PS3, if you would be lucky enough to find one.
Graphics are pretty comparable on both systems. Sony might get an edge since it's coming later, so can have the latest technology.
PS3 will play Blu-Ray out of the box. Stand alone Blu-ray players are still $1000 right now, so it makes the PS3 a great deal for that alone. The X Box 360 HD DVD add on will cost an extra $170 above what you'll pay for just the system.
Since all PS3s will have a hard drive, expect better hard drive support from all developers. Developers on X Box may not devote as much resources to the hard drive, since many of the gamers out there will not be able to use that functionality.

PS3 has very nice speacs as far as I know with Blue Ray disc tech stuff that XBox 360 can't outperform. But some of the best games ever made are great with the XBox, like Halo and Splinter Cell. depends on how much of a hardcore gamer u are.

Neither...get a Wii! Hell of a lot cheaper with a better variety of ways to play and many games TO play. Zelda, Red Steel, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and it comes with Wii Sports! When was the last time you got a game packaged with a console for $250?

Whatever you decide, I would wait until the PS3 has been out long enough to know whether or not it has any serious hardware glitches and if it does wait for the revised model.
