Our Government is to provide BASIC things, not be our Daddy and remove personal responsibility.
Living on the Government tit is no way for anyone to live. Unless you really do not have the ability to llive.

Yes, they are good, but salaries are less so it evens out. The government (and most businesses in general) do reimburse costs if its related to business--e.g. travel, meals while on travel (up to the per diem rate), etc.
