Want is To desire greatly and wish for, but need is a condition or situation in which something is required or wanted. Based on that information, I could never be put on the same level as food, water, or shelter. Therefore, I would rather be wanted.

I would rather be wanted and desired, rather than be needed and necessary.
The idea of want seems to be that of a desire, where as if you are needed that would seem basic or necessary to your existence

I don't know. Being needed entails responsibility, because others are depending on you. From a purely emotional standpoint, it might be better to be wanted, but being needed can help give a person a sense of purpose in life.

a little of both but if i had to pick i say needed, but then if i am needed couldn't that also mean out of request I am also wanted?
