My doctor kept telling me I should be getting over the morning sickness about 10 weeks.. and it just keeps getting worse. I actually was starting to get over it about 9 weeks.. and then the last couple weeks I haven't been able to keep any food down again. Anyone have any suggestions on what I can try? And is this a normal thing?

Varies per person. I had "morning sickness" my entire pregnancy!

With my first pregnancy, I had morning sickness all the way up until I was close to 22 weeks. Don't let a doctor tell you that you shouldn't be having it. Typically, sickness should end close to or around the 10th week. With my second, I didn't have sickness until I was 12 weeks and it lasted for nearly 2 months afterward. Nobody can tell you what you're supposed to be doing except for you. You ask any woman and they all for the most part have different stories to tell you. Some the same, but everybody's body is different and doctors are nobody to tell you it's unusual to have sickness past the 10th week. Also, try keeping crackers by your bed so that in the morning you don't have to get the fluids moving to calm your stomach before you ever have the sickness kick in. Eat about 10 crackers or so, then get up and see if you'll be ok. That's how lots of moms kick the sickness. Good luck and congratulations!!!!

Yes, this is totally normal. Basically morning sickness occurs because of a hormone created by the baby. Usually this tapers off within the first trimester, however, it can go longer. I had all-day sickness for my entire pregnancy, actually I still threw up 3 days after I had my daughter. It was horrible but one thing that helped me was Diclectin - it is a pill for women with bad morning sickness that takes the naseau away. I was throwing up 7-12 times a day without the pill, with it I went down to 3-5 so it definitely does work. I hope that you don't have to go through this the full 10 months but if you do, know that you aren't the first. Good luck!
Oh- frozen fruit was about the only thing I could keep down-

I had "morning sickness" all day and night for the entire pregnancy. It was horrible! So yes it is very normal to still be feeling sick. Only the lucky ones get over it. :) The best think I found to eat was chocolate milkshakes. They were bland enough to settle my stomach and full of calcium. The "Preggie Pops" didn't work for me. Ginger didn't work either. The doctor even told me to try Pepcid in the morning but it didn't work. My sickness finally got bad enough (lost too much weight and almost ended up in the hospital) that my doctor put me on Phenergan to help me keep food down. It knocked me out, but worked wonderful! I would take a pill then lay down for around an hour and then get up and eat and actually be able to not be sick! It was great! Ask you ob about Phenergan. It also comes in a suppository if you can't keep the pill down. Good luck. In the end it will all be worth is when your precious baby is here in your arms!

It's very normal. I had morning sickness until I was 18 weeks. My mom had hers with all four children for the whole 9 months. My friends (who are all moms) told me that the average amount of time to have morning sickness is just through your first trimester (around 13 to 14 weeks); I said they were liars. LOL.

I hope that yours doesn't last from beginning to end, but it's entirely possible. The only thing I was able to keep down was pasta. Good luck and feel better!

I am 39 weeks and still get it sometimes!!!
Here is waht my Doc told me to do and it REALLY helps...

I wish I had know about it with my 1st daughter, but I have a new OBGYN ( a much better one) with this baby! This is quoted from the hand out that my Dr's office gave me:

"The only drug the US FDA has declared to be safe and effective for morning sickness (Bendectin) may be marketed again as Diclectin by a Canadian firm. Until then, you get the same thing by taking Vit B6 25-50mg twice a day and Unisom (doxylamine, an antihistamine) one at bedtime and 1/2 in the morning. This combination works best as a preventative, so take it routinely."

I personally only take 1/2 a Unisom at night and skip the day one or I would be asleep all the time!

Works Great!!

Some women are sick their whole pregnancy, but you should still ask your doc if something else could be causing the nausea (like gall bladder trouble, etc). Pregnancy can upset the other systems of the body and emphasize underlying problems. Better safe than sorry. Also, try the anti-nausea bracelets. They worked for me. (you have to wear both of them and place them correctly for them to work). Ginger is a natural anti-nausea choice as well. Keeping something on your tummy that has a low acid level at all times will help too. Good luck with your new addition.

YES I have had morning sickness 2 times the whole nine months of pregnancy I through up every morning then brushed my teeth, ate , and was fine afterwards. If it is bothering you the doctor can give you morning sickness pills to ease the nausea they are not cheap though. They didn't work for me so I continued being sick what curved it was having a whole wheat bagel toasted with butter and a cup of decaf tea.

Yes is normal all women are different some only get morning sickness for the first trimester others dint get it at all, and some others get it during the whole pregnancy. try saltine crackers, ginger ale, or ginger tea (boil the ginger root with water and sweeten with honey or sugar) and peppermints, also try to eat small meals throughout the day, or try fruits like apples and grapes.try to always keep something in your tummy. Good luck and i hope it gets better! Congrats!

There is no such thing as "normal" when it comes to pregnancy. Morning sickness is usually at its greatest during the first trimester, and you are just ending that trimester. You are not abnormal or something....but the sickness should begin to diminish soon. At least it did for me...I have morning sickness with both my pregnancies, and it ended a little after 3 months.

Some people have it their entire pregnancy. But what my Aunt suggested to me, and really worked, was when you first wake up, even before you brush your teeth. Put a piece of hard candy in you mouth. There are sugar free ones at the Mother Hood store in the malls. It worked wonders. I can't tell you how much it made the sickness go away.
