hey boo, who be boo here..... try this... write a story about writing this story and how it took you all week of sleepless nights to come up with the perfect story.... embellish it change the name of the character and talk about how life always has a different plan than your teacher who said it is due tomorrow.

OK left it a bit late but can understand brain block.
Try and write a short profile on your character first. Eye colour, skin, hair, height, age, occupation. Does he or she have any unusual characteristics like a scar or a limp ect. Sometimes writing your character first helps a lot as your character is developing a personality of its own your story should start to come a little easier.( Your teacher may appreciate a good character profile if you have not done story).
Think of a time and place to put your character in, is it present day or ten twenty or hundred years ago? London, Manchester or abroad. Sometimes this does help.
Think of a second/third character do not make it to many characters as it will bog you down.
Your character will develope if you give him/her a proper identity and not be borning you only think it is.
Have a bit of confidence you can do it.
Did you know that most films/dramas/books are the same repeated stories just done in a diffrent way that is a hint and help by the way.

How about a story about a Badger whos name is Mr Badger.

Mr Badger lives in the woods and does stuff pretty much what normal badgers do every day. He has lots of friends in the woods and can't help but think he is missing out on something. So one day he packs his bag without any notice and leaves the wood in search of a new life.

He doesn't give a second thought about Mrs Badger and their four young Baby badgers, who will surely die from starvation without their daddy to bring them food.

Anyway enough of them they are dead to Mr Badger now. He decides to get on a Train and go to London. On his way he starts fanatsising about what there will be to do when he gets there.

When he arrives he doesnt have any money, so he offers men blow jobs for cash so he can go eat. After sucking for 2 hours he has made £50 which is quite a lot. So he buys a Coffee a Pastry and a pack of wine gums. With his change he buys a transexual Porno Mag and by night it keeps him dry and by day he wanks hi little badger **** over it. This is until he can find enough money to buy some clothes and dress like a Transvestite Badger....

The story goes on........... Your teacher will never have heard of a Transvestite Badger Prostitute who drinks coffee

You will get an A for sure. Either that or you will be expelled.

Instead of making up a story, why not write about someone real. It makes it much easier! For example, do someone like Dr. David Livingstone, and why he decided to explore Africa.

Or someone like William Wilberforce (who fought against the slave trade)

Or, if you are more into space travel, write about the problems the Apollo 13 had, or the first man on the moon - Neil Armstrong

Hope that gives you some ideas - and all you will have to do is a synopsis, which is often what the first draft is anyway! (at least it shows you have thought about it, which will keep your teacher - and parents! - happy!)

The best thing to do is write a fantasy, then you have a little bit of poetic licence and because it's away from the norm it will hold the reader's interest.
Start with the question what if? For example...
What if... I suddenly found out I could fly? (How would it feel?)
What if... My dog started to talk to me? (what would he say?)
What if... I discovered my best friend was a vampire / warewolf / witch? (What would I do?)

Well you get the idea and I'm presuming you have the imagination enough to build up a story based on these questions?

Good Luck! English was always my favourite subject!

Say like a kid found out that the government of his country was doing something bad and he tried to stop but then he found out thay they were actually doing something good and he has to stop the bad guy

Or a tourist gets lost in the jungle and finds the cure for cancer, which he gets when he is there.

Or a girl goes scuba diving and finds a tunnel under the sea, which leads her to a parallal universe.

Or some1 who falls off a building finds he can fly and yeah this is getting kinda random.

A guy invents something that can solve world hunger
no that sux

ummm a person is walking the streets at night a really rich, posh person and she finds out what it is like to leave rougn on the streets

Hmm with Halloween just around the corner I think a ghost type story might be a good idea.

I would write a story about some young trick or treaters. And maybe this strange house that they all grew up hearing stories about. They of course all dare each other to ring the bell... and well you could play around with it... What did they hear about the house? What happens when they finally ring the bell?

Its just an idea.

Let us know what you decide and good luck.

A few minutes ago I read a Yahoo! Question about a girl that used to have nightmares when she was a child about being burned to death in a fire. Now she is a mother and her daughter has just had a dream that her mother is burning to death in a fire! I know it's not really very right to pinch the idea off what must be a distressing event, but maybe you coulduse it for a story idea???

About 4 week ago, I have asked a similar question under '0ther - Arts & Humanities'. Somebody has given an outline of his personal life story - he went for shopping, there was an armed robbery, he was taken as a hostage for 14 hours, taken around to various places in UK, fell in love with the daughter of the kidnapper and now living happily with his kids. You may probably wish to make use of this idea to build your story.

Write a fictional story that addresses racial issues.

How about a story about a black 16 year old female that is dating a white 16 year old guy? You could tell it from her perspective and go into detail about the negative pressure that her family is putting on her - versus - her feelings for the boy. Cover the reactions that her best friend has to the situation and the attitudes of peers/friends at school have to the situation. End the story with whatever they eventually decide to do.

why don't you write about something intersting that has happened to you, or something that you would really like happen to you. if you find something interesting or intriguing, chances are that someone else will as well. take a few stand out characteristics from people that you know in real life and adapt them to your character. i don't know what kind of storyteller you are but you could even turn to an old news arcticle to get an idea- you might end up writing a crime story though! there is a lot out there to write about, you just have to look for it. good luck!
