voodoo is much more complex than you think. you are unfortunately listening to the all too common rumors of voodoo that are common in myths. whether or not voodoo is "real" is actually a matter of opinion based upon religion. i do not believe it is real, but i have studdied the basics of the religion and do understand how the religion basically functions. don't be worried or scared. he is just from a completely different culture and probably feels the same way about you. try reading books about African voodoo.

(by the way, voodoo did originate in Africa, but as it spread to the Americas and Caribbean area through slave trade. since its arrival in America, it has developed some myths and weird followings that don't go along with the real African voodoo.

Is Voodoo Real

"Voodoo" is a form of Catholicism that is mainly practiced in Haiti though did originate as a mixture of the church and ancient African Magic. The "cursing" element works on fear. When people are sent a doll which tells them they are cursed the power of their belief almost literally "scares them to death." However, find out which part of Africa he is from. He is just as likely to be a Muslim as a Christian and even if he does practice voodoo you'd have to really piss him off to get him to do it. Telling people about how he has rolling eyes and speaks a funny language might do it though.

Of course Voodoo is real. It is a very prevalent "religion" in some parts of the world.

Whether or not voodoo is effective is an entirely different question. As for me, I believe that we are all connected by a "psychic web". Christians call it the holy spirit, Taoists call it the Tao, Native Americans call it the great spirit, etc... In any case, if this interconnection exists then there is the possibility that one can be effected by others from a distance (for good or evil).

In short, if your prayers work to give healing energy to the sick or your positive thoughts can help the moral of loved ones, why would voodoo be any different.

Voodoo is real. It is extension of the same supernatural powers that demons possess. It is nothing to mess with or glamorize. It cripples the user and the victim. It is much like war, there is no winner. And much like the Satan himself, unreliable.

I don't know about his eyes, but he can't help it if his language sounds funny to you, any more than you can help it if your language sounds funny to him. And just because he's West African doesn't mean he's going to curse you with "voodoo"; the term is more Caribbean in origin... and it's hogwash anyway. I'd be more worried if you thought that he himself was a threat, not what he would "curse" you with--if he even were to do that at all.

The belief is real. However, It is all based on religion and suggestion.

Sounds like your roommate has done a real number on you. If you don't know how to put the brakes on that, get another roommate. You can't go through life with all that stress.
