has had no lineup changes of any kind, deaths, new members joined, old members lost, breakups of any kind, and is still using their original name. It's not a contest, and i don't have some correct answer, just something i was wondering about. PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE SUBMITTING BANDS. I CAN ALREADY TELL YOU IT'S NOT AEROSMITH OR BEASTIE BOYS OR AC/DC. I think it might be U2 (around since the late 70's), can anyone top that?

Stop guessing The Stones (they're on their 3rd guitarist and don't even have a bass player right now). Sorry guys, excellent guess, but Rush had a different drummer (John Rutsey) when they formed as Rush.

R.E.M. doesn't currently have a drummer, and Aerosmith temporarily lost Joe Perry and Brad Whitford during the course of the band's career.

Of all of the bands listed so far by other people, Rush is the only one with no line up changes. People need to do their homework. Rolling Stones had a guitar player O.D. Iron Maiden had at least the original singer quit. Chicago had a guitar palyer put a bullet in his head. Lynyrd Skynyrd had the famous plane crash that killed half the band. I don't remember any of the others. Rush has been around since the early 70s and has always been the same three guys.

Currently AEROSMITH is now the active band that has been together the longest without a single member change since 1970. Although bassist Tom Hamilton is recovering from treatment for throat cancer he is still in the band and joined them for the show at TWEETER Center (Mansfield, MA.) on Tuesday night Sept. 26.

So that is 36 years together without a personnel change.

ZZ TOP (1972) is not far behind, and the same for RUSH.

For those who guessed RUSH, they began in 1977 as the opening act for KISS.
The previous record was held by THE WHO (1964 - 1978 death of Keith Moon)
U2 began in the late '70's and has had changes in their line up at times even though the original band is back together.

Yep, it's the Rolling Stones. They're falling apart at the seams physically, but still get along, and still do concerts.
